Default MAF Question

Ive been told my MAF is playing up, idle is hunting a bit.
Problem is what sensor do it get ?

Picture 1




Picture 2




I know where the MAF Sensor is in the the car in picture 1, but where is the sensor in picture 2 go ?

Which one do I buy ?

Please help Slippy.

p.s. Ive got an Apexi air cone attached to one like in picture 1

Picture 2 is your MAF
And the reason it has failed is because of your air cone, refit your standard air box and you shouldnt have any further problems.

Picture 1 is the housing which has the actual MAF sensor in it (small wire hanging down).
Did picture 2 come out of the housing?

I've run an IK on my car for 3 years and no MAF problem but the IK could have brought any problem to your attention a lot quicker.

Cant fit standard airbox, ive got a front mount intercooler

'Did picture 2 come out of the housing?'


I goggled MAF SENSOR and it came up with these both pics

On the later cars the sensor gets replaced not the housing iirc, so on your car you have picture 1 which if you look down it will see a wire hanging down.

you have a 96 impreza you need pic 1 and it aint cheap,pic 2 is the sensor that fits into the tube on 99-00 cars and is a lot cheaper 88 quid for 2 over 250 for pic 1
