Default Check Engine Warning Light

I have seen this lit up for a minute or so twice now but there is no power loss or other problems when on.
Any ideas what, if any, the problem might be and is it worth having it checked out by Subaru please?
Thanks.
Dave.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

check the error codes yourself mate

ECU Reset and Error codes

Turn OFF the ignition

Connect Error code Connectors :
2 black connectors under dash, connect black to black, they are by your left knee when sat in the drivers seat and often taped back to the loom if they haven't been used before.

Turn ON ignition but don't start the engine

Check engine light error code is indicated by Pulsing lamp

If an error is detected then Check the ECU Code

An Error Code is indicated by a flashing check engine light
of varying length of flash,
a flash of around once a second is the okay code and indicates all is well.

If an error code is detected Check the ECU Code

Error Codes

An Error code is defined as a slow flash followed by fast flash
i.e 2 slow and 3 fast = 23 Mass Airflow sensor.
A continuous on/off at the same speed is no fault found.

Code Fault
11 Crankshaft position sensor

12 Starter switch

13 Camshaft position sensor

21 Engine coolant temperature sensor

22 Knock sensor

23 Mass air flow sensor

24 Idle air control solenoid

31 Throttle position sensor

32 Oxygen sensor

33 Vehicle speed sensor 2

35 Purge control solenoid valve

42 Idle switch

44 Wastegate control solenoid valve

45 Pressure sensor / Pressure exchange solenoid valve

51 Neutral position switch

hope this helps mate

Sorry I can't find 2 black connectors to join up.
I have found 1 spade connector on a black wire and some sort of small plug on another and some joined or taped wires too.
Would the required 2 black wires be different to this small collection?
Dave.

Does the light flash or does it just come on constant? I had a similar problem on my bugeye. The light would flash for a min then go off. It was registering a misfire on 3 cylinders, and turned out to be the gearbox neitral sensor grrrr

The light does not flash, when it appears it stays on for about 1 minute, so far once a day.
Each time so far I have just been in 6th doing 50 or 60 mph.
No change in engine sound or power when on.
Dave.

it probably means someone has taken the bulb out. take the clocks out and see if there is one there (thats assuming youo have connected the correct wires)

You need to connect the black connectors only to get the error codes up.

if bulb comes on with ignition etc then it is not the bulb.

The car is a 99. UK model.
The idle is fine which is why I was suprised to see code 24 coming up.

As I am not noticing a problem at the moment should I just ignore the light or get it checked out?
If so who by? Subaru garage nearby not far from Stratford or a specialist?
Any recommendations in Warwickshire?
Dave.

I had fault code P0340 come up last night and called Subaru this morning, Completely unhelpful and just wanted me to book it in.

Can anyone tell me how to clear the code?

Engine light still on but my PSI3 ECU monitor shows the fault only as historic.

1st ever problem with my scoob, hope its nothing major ;(

Anyone know what I can expect to pay for one of these if I decide to change it please?
Is it a main dealer only part?
