Eventually found the knocking in my rear bumper on my 00. The one number plate light is loose. This should be easy to tighten up but it isnt. It seems it is screwed in from the top and the problem is that the bumper covers the screw. There seems to be very little(none) space between the mounting beam and the bumper to get at the screw? As far as I can tell this is a pretty bad design!

Any ideas on how to do this other than removing the whole bumper? If I need to remove the bumper how easy is it and what do I need to remove?
