i just done a compression test but i had to do it with a cold engine coz the cars in bits, but the results were a bit odd
1 = 87 psi
2 = 87 psi
3 = 87 psi
4 = 83 psi
so can anyone tell me what this means

All plug leads seated correct? It could be one has come of, this could explain the petrol smell and the shaking of the engine and loss of power etc as it would be running on three cylinders Check everything in this area.
Your compression readings are a little low but even which is important you would also need to have the throttle open when doing a compression test to get the correct reading.

Ive just tried unplugging the injectors 1 at a time and 1,2,3, make the car worse but number 4 the car isn't any different than having them all in so should i try replacing that injector

You must do a compression test with your foot flat to the floor on the throttle otherwise the butterfly in the throttle body will stop air filling the cylinder
