Default AVCR RPM Reading

I've installed an AVCR as far as the power & ECU splicing wires go but have not plumbed in the solenoid or pressure sensor under the bonnet yet.

I noticed that the AVCR RPM reading isn't matching my true RPM reading. Avcr is 3000 RPM above what my dash RPM is.

Have I done something wrong or do I need the solenoid & pressure sensor connected for the AVCR to read RPM correctly?

Thanks for any help.

Is it 3000 rpm above, or double (which would happen with wasted spark versus plug top coils for example).

Have you set it to 4 cylinder in the "etc->car somethingorother" menu?

After just driving it I noticed that when my dash RPM is around 2-3k the AVCR RPM is maxed out at 8k only dropping down to just over 4k when I'm sat stationary at idle.

Not sure about the 4 cylinder setup but I will check as soon as I can.

Simon

What exactly does that mean?

Please elaborate.
