Rough idle & no acceleration.....
Hi there !!
Hope you don't mind me dropping in with a problem that my car has....
Coming back along the A14 today at 70 -75 the car started to shudder and would not accelerate when going up hill. Driving around town it would nearly stall at traffic lights and didn't accelerate away from the traffic lights very quickly. Got home and left the car idling and opened the bonnet - the engine was rocking from side to side, really lumpy tick over and sounded really rough. Oil level appears okay - no error lights on the dashboard - engine temperature is fine - cooling fans cut in.....
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please......

Expect a blow up fairly soon...Have seen this a couple of times on cars of around that mileage , no noise from crank etc but a rocking motion from side to side when idling sometimes enough to put the missfire cel code on...The power just seems to die away gradually and if pushed may push a rod through the block...

Back from garage
Hi again
Phoned up my local dealer - thanks to Welch's - who took a look this morning
Air flow sensor changed - no change
Spark plug coil packs changed - no change
They suspect it to be a fuel problem either with the injectors or a contamination and will be taking a deeper look on Monday......
Currently driving a loan Forrester around Suffolk

Just heard back from the garage who say the engine needs to come out as the valves are faulty and need replacing. The heads need skimming and leak testing plus what ever else they find. Around 17 hours of labour plus parts - oh and a 90,000 mile service as well plus a new cambelt
With 90,000 on the clock I'm undecided what to do.......
