Default Whats the max bhp through a hybrid i/c?

Not a cheap copy but a genuine hybrid.

I bought it when my power aspirations were anything over 400bhp but now I'm about to go over 500 I'm not sure if the i/c will be up to the job.

Whats the maximum boost/power that anyones ran through one of these without it blowing oval or letting go?

I have a booklet liying infront of me.
They say that the GT spec max is 750hp
and the RS racing intercooler's max is 1000hp

Elsewhere I see it referred to as 580 bhp.
A friends red wagon has been running 1.85 bar over a couple of years with no issues.

Thanks guys. I've ran one for more than 2 years and at 1.85 for the last year but have bought a much bigger turbo and wondered if it would be too much for it.

Defo will not be over 600hp though.

if you have a bigger turbo, you may find that it generates less heat at a certain boost / power level than a smaller one, as it may be more effective at that flow/compression rate, if you see what i mean

The GT Spec core is good for at least 700hp.

Core is fine, its the pipework that lets it down, replace the hotpipe for something better and it will cope well.

Andy what do you suggest replacing the pipe with (assuming hot pipe is from the turbo) as I am having issues with clearance on a 92 wrx

Cheers Andy,

most of the hot pipe is history now the rotated turbo is on. I've removed the section that narrows and doubles back on itself and shortened it a bit.

Just want to sort these things out at this stage and not have to come back to it later.

Not quite - went with a gt30/40r. Can't remember what I runs like it's been so long since I drove it.

The joys of modding.

2 - 3k I think. No more than that anyway.

This will be the last major round of mods. Then its time to enjoy it.

Also worth getting one of the later tube/fin cores instead of the old bar/plate. They have a lower pressure drop and are much lighter too
