1995 sti, failed mot yesterday due to high co2 levels [ .511 ] I have been told to put some injector cleaner in with the petrol ,a good run up the motorway and then straight in for a retest. Is this good advice? ps lambda is fine.
many thanks.

It'll be high CO levels, not CO2. As the limit is 0.5% at natural idle and 0.3% at fast idle, you aren't a million miles away - getting the cat really hot might do just enough for it to scrape through. As for the injector cleaner, not sure it's really make any noticable difference to the emissions, but it might help the car run better so no harm in it.
If that doesn't work, borrow a standard exhaust with a cat in; it's much easier to change the centre section than the downpipe and you're close enough to the emissions that I'd expect that to do the job.
The lambda reading is fine m8 [ 1.007 ] so do i presume 1 of the cats is knackered? if thats the case how do i know which 1 as it was can they be checked seperatly? Dont like the sound of this now lol sounds like big money
Mine failed miserably took it for a good blast and got it red hot took it back for re test past with flying colours . tester said it was better than a new car
clean/change the air filter, get car hot and try again. Saying that if its an import can it run the bet test instead of the cat test? (or was it 1994 they changed it)
it was 1994 the changed it jay and the car has got an induction kit on it with a clean filter, would changing this make a difference does anybody know?
