Should already be a TD05 as standard.. To be sure check the turbo, it'll be stamped on it.

Z4 Saloons should be running a TD05.
I doubt your boost would be stable if running a Z4 and TD04.

The id marks are on the front of the turbo (on my mates' it was stamped at the bottom and a bloody nightmare to find I had to remove a few pipes to get a look).

That's odd.

i had to remove the Apexi hard pipe (or the equivalent on my mates' car) and had to squeeze a camera down the gap to get a photo of the markings but if you're running a z4 it has to a td05 or equivalent.

my tdo5 used to kick in about 3000rpm(now 1800-2000 with mods)
always thought tdo4 had quite quick spool up compared to the td05,maybe you could tell what turbo you have buy how to spool's up.
just a thought better too see the stamp though and make sure, but i would be surprised if it would run well with a td04 and a z4 ecu.
