I have them in my build, no complaints as yet.....running 500/500 and maybe a touch more in a few weeks.

Eagle rate them to 700~ so 450 is easy meat.

Huh?
Hope your mapper doesn't charge you for getting it right second time around!

I think Dave Blue RA had eagle rods in his engine when one quickly left the block one day.

I havent paid yet Alan it wasnt his fault anyway, there was an irregularity with the fuel pump which meant no matter what we were doing it woudl run mega lean above 5800rpm....so its currently 505 at 5800 rpm

Problem solved now and map scheduled for the 26th...

Andy, didnt that particular engine have a brief run at 3 bar though?

Neil,

Andy, didnt that particular engine have a brief run at 3 bar though?
And if it did, just how close to 750bhp you think it got

There are people who have bent FAR superior rods, with way less than 750bhp.

For 450bhp, the Eagles are probably ok, but I wouldn't be recommending them for 500bhp +, especially in a 2.5lt, or a higher revving engine.

Bad det', a big boost spike, or a big over rev', and you could be looking at a lunched engine.

Same as any component then, im sure youve had access to more failed engines that i have so will have more experience....but give anything enough abuse and they will all fail im sure steven was not using eagles for example, and one big over rev and its gone (albeit a very big over rev)....so it could happen to anything is all im saying. If mine do end up failing then ill replace them with others.

who said anything about 750?

The fuel pump return was waaay too small (apparently) so it was trying to suppy the fuel but getting nowhere.....this was fixed and now it flows just fine

Steven's engine had already shown signs of a problem prior to the over rev' incidence, but Steven being Steven, he was determined to run.

The point I'm trying to make is, with the giving of advice, should come resposibility.

If people choose to give advice, they ought to be damn certain their advice is good ! because the consequences of being wrong, could cost someone an awful lot of money.

It's one thing for you to choose to accept the risk of running cheap parts at 500bhp +, and quite another to suggest it's fine for someone else to do the same.

I'm not suggesting that's what you're saying here.

agreed.

If the guys target is a reliable 450 though the eagles "should" more than suffice I will run mine until they fail, having said that i dont intend on putting any bigger turbo on to my car for the foreable, as this one will more than do me for now!

However, i think that the short motor i have could fail in many areas, not just the rods think the liners may have some issues too! But again, its all par for the course, at the time of building the motor, i didnt have any intention of going above 400bhp....so again, the eagles were fine at the time.

Not everyone has the budget to buy 700-1000bhp rods for an engine that will never get anywhere near it would you agree? I certainly didnt at the time!

I have used several sets of Eagle rods and will continue to do so.
I suggest you balance them carefully before installation.
