Put the headers on first and tighten up,then put the up-pipe on not forgetting to locate it under the top bracket.

Posted on the other thread for you, but I do it slightly differently from above, but close enough: headers first, then bolt up-pipe to headers, up-pipe top flange to engine mounting brackets, turbo onto inlet pipe and sitting on top of oil drain hose, drop turbo down onto the three up-pipe studs, downpipe back on last.

Same here. First time I tackled it I allocated the whole weekend. Now I'd happily see it as a morning's work, assuming nothing was seized.

use a jubilee clip on the rubber pipe to stop it sliding down the "metal pipe on the engine" before fitting

you can then just press the turbo down and it will slip in

The Exhaust is blowing slightyly but ill take it to the garge as its a right bitch to tighten them all......

Apart from that were in business.

LOL mine did the same, I thought it was knackered then realised it was all the steam from the coolant I'd spilt when I'd topped it back up. None of the exhaust system bolts are tighter than 35-40 Nm. I've always put mine back together with a little exhaust paste and 35Nm comes out the same as as 'hand tight as possible' on a 14mm ring spanner. Doesn't need to be any tighter. If it's leaking, try exhaust paste or make sure your gaskets are nice and flat.

we must have out wires crossed somewhere

the oil return pipe on the turbo is metal, thisslips into a rubber pipe that is fitted to anotehr metal pipe on the engine

leave the rubber pipe on the engine side but use a clip to clamp it in place on the metal pipe, this stops the rubber pipe from going anywhere, the turbo then just slips into place, you can then use some pliers to bring the spring clip up to seal it

its a doddle, last time i swapped my turbo i had it done in 1 hour 45mins
