hi guys,
had my 1995 wrx mapped this week all going great made 320 bhp,
then on the road test 3rd gear blows up! this is 2nd time this has happend same gear in a little over a year! Surely it should last longer! I never abuse the gearbox either! could it be that it wasn't rebuilt right in the first place? anybody had simular probs? any help please?

just over a year??? how many miles have you done.. how long have you been running it at 320bhp.

how much did the rebuilld cost if you dont mind me asking.

hi mate, only done approx 15.000 miles on it roughly! its not an every day drive. The first rebuild was 3rd and 4th only. Cost 500 quid! Back then i was at 280 bhp. only bin at 320 this week! i didnt even get to drive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it the syncro`s?? it`s torque that kills boxes i think anyway, give David @ API in Leamington a call, or drop him a PM, APIDavid is his username, very good fella....

See if you can get a gearbox from an sti 5 onwards, gearbox code starts TY754, as they are the pick of the 5 speeds boxes.

just make sure ifd you get another box it matches your ratio on rear diff or you will be into more problems too mate . good luck

I have the gearsets 1+2 and 3+4 from a 99 STI 5 RA Ltd box, and 5th aswell. These were removed when I fitted the PPG set.

Sorry Terry, but 754 gears won't go into a 752 casing. Save you both a load of hassle that way.
