Anyone got a GREEN cotton air filter ?
Evening all, i hope someone can help me here. I fitted a new GREEN cotton air filter to my 97 turbo 2000 today and im happy enough with it up to now. But i just read the instructions and it says to oil it after cleaning it, but i think i remember reading on here a while ago that any sort of oil on air filters in an impreza airbox can seriously damage the air flow sensor thus engine damage. I bought this thinking it was a dry air filter element and am now a bit worryed about my babys (car) health. Anyone run one of these for any legth of time ? Will it be ok or should i not take the chance and put the OE filter back in. Thanx in advance.

Its only very lightly oiled like a K&N filter.
Usually you only need to clean these once in a blue moon.
Tap out the crap then use the cleaning solvent to dissolve the rest.
Rinse with clean water then leave to dry naturally.
Once this is done, a light spray of oil is need to help retain dirt.
Any excess on the wire mesh can be wiped off with some kitchen roll, leave the oil to soak in and replace.
Easy
Ran a K&N in my old car(MY99 ) and new car without any problems, its mainly MY99/00 that have major problems with MAF's

Thanx mate. I was getting really worryed then, so even a light bit of oil wont damage it then ? Oh and my OE dumpvalve seems to be alot louder since i fitted the filter, is this normal or is something not right there ? Not that i dislike the extra sound or the spooling up sound getting abit louder, i love it but just want to make sure all is well. Next job tomorow is to fitt my new whiteline rear anti-roll bar and alloy droplinks, cant wait to em as iv heard nothing but great reports about them
