Default 1.1bar boost?

Hi all,

I've recently bought an MY99 Impreza with the following mods;

Green panel filter
Walbro fuel pump
Ecutek ecu and re-map
Magnex ded-cat pipes
Magnex downpipe
Magnex full system

I have a folder full of receipts for all the work carried out.
The last owner said it would be running at around 270bhp.

It also has a boost gauge which holds at about 1.1bar.
Basically, all I want to know is, is 1.1bar 270bhp or should I be looking for more or is this too much?

My next step is a P1 turbo and re-map.

1.1bar is about 17psi of pressure which is the force of air the turbo is feeding the engine

Its a 1999 T reg UK spec.

I thought 270bhp was about the max my turbo could go to?
Anything after that would require a new one and a re-map?

A UK Turbo basic spec is 215bhp so with the mods i would say its probably more around 250bhp possible 260bhp. I had a UK spec a while ago with almost the same mods and this was what it was running at.

The VF28 P1 turbo can run 320bhp so I was hopefully looking for around 300 after a re-map.

Only reason I'm going for the VF28 is because I thought it would be cheaper than buying new.

Forgot to ask too, would I see different boost pressure if iI use different fuel?
I put in Tesco 99 last week and I'm pretty sure it was peaking at 1.4 and holding 1.2.
But I recently put in BP ultimate and now I'm seeing a peak of 1.2, holding 1.1??

I have a similar set-up to yours.

Magnex centre/backbox, JR Panel filter, Ninja Sports Cat downpipe.

Std turbo Td04 like yours, remapped via ecutek to 273bhp/273lbft @ 1.25bar.

TD04 doesn't do much more than 270-280bhp.

I was also thinking VF28, would like to see 300-320bhp/300lbft. Turbo change, fuel pump and remap should see that.

TD04 is good for no more than 270-280bhp. Sounds like yours is running at its max. Bet you get a good early spool up though?

i was told the td04 can give a 300 bhp, where as a td05 can give 350bhp with suporting mods, injector/psi levels ect.

i have a uk classic, but i'm hoping to be in or very near the 300bhp mark

A TD05 will as you say get upto 350bhp, but a STANDARD TD04 is limited to 270-280bhp?

One of Andy Fs hybrids TD04 however can go up to 320bhp I think?

When you say you asked about the TD05 you have do you mean TD04? Unless you have swapped it you should have a TD04?

Unless you have an early UK Turbo which has the TD05 of course? Didn't think about that
