Default About undertrays...........

Hi,

Are Blobeye WRX undertrays the same as Blobeye STi undertrays ? Or in other words, if you have a blobeye WRX and get an STi TMIC, is there no benefit in buying an STi undertray because the airflow is the same on the two undertrays ?

Andy

PS Alex - If you read this, no offence, just wanted to be sure you were correct !

if you fit a STi TMIC to a WRX you will need the larger undertray from the STi 8 to get the most out of the intercooler

lots of threads on NASIOC on how to adapt the smaller WRX one if you are nifty with hacksaw

Any idea if the blobeye WRX undertray is different from the bugeye WRX undertray (ie will the blobeye one provide the same airflow as the blobeye STi undertray ?).

Andy the bug eye scoop is not as tall as the STI8 scoop so you would still have the same problem, ie you would need a bugeye STI scoop and undertray (dont know if that scoop fits on a blobeye bonnet) and it may be argued that the whole point of fitting the larger intercooler is to get as much cooling as possible so why would you then want to fit a smaller scoop with the reduced airflow volume it would give. The STI8 undertray will not fit the WRX scoop as the undertray vent is much taller than the WRX undertray vent and it will not fit inside the WRX scoop. I went through all this recently and even looked at a Zerosports undertray but it will not fit the WRX scoop either. Some people have modded the STI8 undertray vents to fit inside the wrx scoop but it looks a real pain to do. To be honest you would be better getting an STI8 scoop and undertray.

Cheers Archie,

I was planning to use my existing Bugeye scoop and mod an STi undertray - just need to work out how to do it !!

Andy

PS Archie - are you nocturnal ?!

Andy Not nocturnal mate just work nights
If you are going to mod the STI undertray, I have seen pics of an STI 8 undertray modded to fit the blob eye WRX Scoop. I will try and find it.
Basically it required the vertical stabiliser wedges to be removed, the sloping air vent was bent down to fit the scoop and then the vertical wedges altered to suit the new dimensions and the reattached. Looked like a right pain in the a***.
cheers see I do come out during the daylight.
