Default rattling noise on new wrx?

Hi guys, i've just bought a new 2.5 wrx (2007) and have a question thats been bugging me. Any help would be really appreciated!

I just bought my dream car and took delivery with it at 22 miles. At about 50 miles, i couldnt hold back any more and gave it a good ole bit of hard right foot for 25 miles. From there on in its been easy driving with me very rarely going over 4k rpm. Now a week on its got 400 miles on its clock. From 2000 until 3000 revs it makes a rapid clicking noise like a bearing or belt is loose or sumthing and it seems to be coming from around the turbo. But after 3000 revs it disappears and all i hear is the whine of the turbo

My question is, have I done any damage to the engine, or am I just being overly paranoid??

Thanks in advance!

Neil

Hi Mate.

does it sound like baffles rattling around. like a fluttering sound. if so, i have it on my 2.5 wrx 2006 model.

when i was at subaru for a first service, they said it was fine and all the 2.5 wrx engines did as its something to do with the air channels in the block to keep the emissions down.

also heard this from my local subaru specialist.

The noise doesnt sound right, it reminds me of when i had a 206 gti and a common problem they had was the manifold baffles would come lose, put your foot down and get the flutter sound, then stop after a certain revs.

i hope this help, i also helps their right about what it is aswell. lol

cheers

Mine has done this from new (though seems to be much quieter since the new exhaust system / remap )

My guess was the boost soleniod But either way it has made no difference whatsoever to the car in 2 1/2 years driving and now I just ignore it.

Now if only I could ignore/cure the ******* rattling from the rear parcel shelf/window/roof lining............................................ ....
