Default CEL- error 32

The CEL came on yesterday on my way home from work. I was about a mile and half from home and it stayed on until I got home. However, I went out again about 20 minutes later and the CEL had gone off.

I've done the the diagnostic check and it threw up error code 32, whoch understand is the Oxygen (lambda) sensor.

I've also connected the green connectors under the dash to reset the ecu, drove around for a few minutes, then the CEL started flashing in the error 32 sequence, but I have no CEL when the connectors aren't connected. The car's running fine.

Does this mean that the sensor is knackered or not?

I've searched on here, but I can't find a defnitive answer.

Cheers

This has happened to me, could indicate that its on its way out but might have a little life left.

Clear your codes and go for a drive, your CEL may not come on but check the diagnostic codes and it may show a fault.

I followed the process to clear the codes and drove about for a few minutes and the CEL started to flash with the error code I had before, but i'm not sure if the ECU had been reset or not.

How much damage can it cause if it's failing/failed?

Cheers mate, I appreciate any help I get.

Once I'd plugged the connectors together under the dash, I heard a stedy clicking sound. I then push the accelerator down completely and returned it to halfway for a couple of seconds then started the engine.
I don't recall seeing the CEL light flashing though, so it sounds like it may not have reset the ECU.
Am I doing something wrong?

I'm having trouble clearing the codes.
I've followed the instructions to the letter, plugging the green and black connectors together, ignition on, accelerator down then return to halfway etc, then I drive about for a few minuites and the error 32 code flashes up, but I'm sure this is because the code hasn't been cleared in the first place.

At no point have I seen the CEL flash every half a second to indicate the codes have been cleared.

Am I doing something wrong?

The most simplest answer is that your lambda is knockered hence the constant error code.

Your Lambda is knakered this what they all do when there broke.

Get a new one then do an ECU reset.

Presuming you have a classic just get a universal 3 wire lambda for around £30

You'll have to wire it up when you get it using crimps.

If you have any questions i'e what colour wires connect to which just PM me
