Default Help please! Car suddenly won't start

Car is a MY97 Jap import.
I had an engine rebuild back in October last year, and an Apexi ECU, with mapping, Walbro pump, standard air filter and intercooler fitted about 10 days ago. The car has been used everday since then without a problem.

Came out of work today (Saturday working sucks ) and car just wouldn't turn over. Sounded as though the starter motor wasn't trying to start. If I tried for more than about 3 seconds I got this repeating click click sound coming from under the bonnet.
Thought to myself "should still jump start as that should bypass the starter motor". OK that was a guess, and possibly wrong, but the jump start worked. Chap from Green Flag turned up as I got it going and said it couldn't be the starter motor as it wouldn't have jump started, and even though all the lights etc were working, it was probably the battery. I got home after driving for 20 minutes, and tried to restart it straight away. Nothing, apart from just about 1 cycle of the starter motor.
Any ideas?
I can try swapping the battery with one in another car, but I fear it maybe the motor itself.

Thanks in advance
Nick

Sounds like a duff battery or poor battery connections as the green flag man said.

OK thanks guys. I assume all batteries are the same?
Will take one out of missus' car (A Clio) on Monday and try that. Unfortunately I'm working AGAIN tomorrow!

Oops! Silly me.
I meant BUMP start not jump start!
Think I will call the Green Flag man out again Monday to do some tests. It's free after all and could save me spending time trying to figure out what it is.

Battery - definately. Common for them to die this time of year.
If you jump start with another car and it starts that'll prove it for definate though.

it could be the alternator cos if it was gone the batt would go dead and would start with a jump

I'd put another yes to the battery vote.

Thought I'd update for others who may search for problem in the future.
It was the earth cable from the battery! Had a new one put in that is earthing to a different place to save getting the intercooler off, but may sort that in the summer when it's warmer and I fancy tinkering!
Thanks all for advice.
