Smile swoosh gauges!

I recently bought a triple pod and gauges from Scoobyworld to fit on the centre of my dash, unfortunately they seem to give some strange readings. The oil pressure reads 70-75psi in the red sector( local garage says actual oil pressure is fine) and the oil temperature shows 80C also in the red. I know Swoosh gauges are not the best but I've read on here the sandwich plate that fits onto the oil filter does'nt help. Any advice? Cheers, Mick.

80c is very low for a scoob (as far as what it can reach) mine reads up to 150degrees max iirc, although i don't let it go above 110degrees befopre backing off.

oil pressure norm for me is 6 bar while driving (87psi), and 3 at idle (43.5psi).

the gauges sound like there incorrect for the car mate, they don't read high enough

I posted about my Swoosh boost gauge. With engine off it reads -0.5bar - on idle -1.0 bar and at full chat 0.7bar (needle vibrate and sounds like it is going to ping off). Do I need to spend slightly more on a 'better' gauge? Car is standard MY2000 UK Turbo. Thoughts?

needles that vibrate mean cheap gauges.

Fitted my Swoosh gauges last weekend and they seem fine, no vibration at all.

90PSI oil pressure, though not sure what boost reading I'm getting yet, as I haven't put it through its paces

short of putting defi's in your a bit limited.

but the boost figures you say are fine, alwasy get negative pressure when idleing and off boost

Defi's are way into overkill territory. Just about any gauge sounds better than these 'swish' or whatever they are. Autometer, Smiths, VDO, they'll all do a great job and have the benefit of decades of quality behind them.

i have the swoosh gauges from scooby world on my 98uk turbo wagon and they are great, oil temp reads from 50 - 150, 50-80 being a red area and 120-150 in a red area, oil pressure reads 0 -100psi and boost is upto 1.5bar. they work very well for me, on a cold start oil pressure is right up near 100psi, when nice and hot, about 90c on the oil temp the oil pressure is about 30psi. i have just got an air/fuel in the same style to add when i figure out how to fit it

That will just be a fancy light show unless its a wideband O2 gauge.

It will show the normal range of rich/lean mixtures very well as it takes the exact same lambda signal as goes to the ECU. If your mixtures go badly rich or lean, you don't need a wideband to show you that - it's bleeding obvious with just one glance at a 'normalband' AFR gauge because the lights will have gone off the scale. I'd actually rather have a 'normalband' in everyday driving than a 'wideband' because it tells you only what you need to know rather than what you don't. It doesn't matter whether your AFR has gone to 18:1 or 28:1 at WOT - you're still ****ing up your engine. A 'normalband' will tell you that straight away because the red lights will max out. It's not as if there's any extra power or economy to be had outside of the normal range of a lambda sensor.

thats all im after with the afr. so does the signal wire connect to the lambda then?if so then that makes it a lot easier

thanks
