Default boost problem still!

finally got around to clean my boost solenoid this morning
after i had this happen
https://www.scoobynet.com/midlands-2...october-3.html
when i connected this green and black plugs together
the solenoid was clicking
sprayed some brake cleaner through it
took car for a spin and still only boosting at about 8 psi

im running out of ideas as what to do next
if i clamped the actuator to solenoid pipe
take it for another drive and if it hits target boost would tell me that the actuator is faulty?

I have known a couple of early cars to fail to control the boost control solenoid correctly for no apparent reason, probably due to a fault with the ECU or wiring.

Stick ya head under the bonnet and see if the solenoid clicks if you raise the revs slightly off idle

The solution in these cases was to fit a manual boost controller.

good call, they're cheap and would def narrow down a problem with the ecu/wiring or solenoid...

i've kept mine on (dawes) as it boosts quicker with no overboost

i tried a manual boost controller, and a different ecu to no avail,,

reduced the gap in my spark plugs to .6 today... problem seems to be solved, guess i better save up for some coil packs now
