Default Oil consumption my05

checked oil this morning. First time for about 5months ... yes i know i should once a month but i dont go far. anyway it was below the lower level and last time it was almost at high level. I put a litre in and now its in the middle. so ive used over a litre in 5 months. is this normal?

was the oli warm when you checked

my02 is a pig to check the oil on - i have learned to make sure its 100% flat and the car was run to temp 25 mins before checking

i get reliable reading then

i never go over the middle of the 2 marks , but my car does go through 1 lirte every 3/4 k miles and had done since new but i dont think this is the norm

I'm going through approx 1ltr every 5k miles. I find it best to check the oil as described above, and check it at least every 2 weeks. I get no smoke, but consumption does seem to be tied in with how much I use my right foot! (MY03 WRX)

Default oil consumption

modern engines will use oil over time due to the way it works
hot gasses from the oil are put in to the induction system to be burnt i would of thought subaru are no different
all manufactures have limits for the amount of oil an engine can use over a set amount of miles providing it does not use more than the specified amount it is nothing to worry about just regular level checking needed
your local subaru dealer should be able to give you the details of allowed oil usage
