Default Newage CEL code reading

I have searched for it but i could only see it for the classics but is it the green and black connectors by the steering column as said for the classics to be able to read the error codes on the dash ?

The CEL light came on yesterday and getting it home i didnt want to try and use any boost at all just in case.

TIA

2002 STi Type UK

the diagnostics should be a green connector for you, single cable series but I' not 100% sure

Give it a try but dont 'start' motor in diagnostics mode.

CEL codes can't be read as they were on a classic as far as I know.
You need OBD connector and some decoding software. SECS unit does it if you know someone who has one, otherwise pop into dealer or subaru specialist and they will tell you in a few mins.

Best staying off boost for now, may be a spurious random CEL or may be a real sensor issue

Did they shout "stand and deliver"

Where's your nearest 'specialist'. I'm not sure if the OBD codes are standard across cars or whether you need subaru ECU specific software. I know OBD connectors are standard and I suspect (aka guessing) that any software could read the code, just not do any resetting etc. Where abouts are you, have you a local subaru owners club as I'm sure one of the members could locate someone for you

Just been round all the garages local to me and not one can read an OBDII for this model of car argh. Why do Subaru make it so hard to read a code?

Only two choices of garages i can go to then and one is ACE motorsport (32 mile drive away) or the Subaru Dealer.

Another alternative for OBD readers, have a look at this thread https://www.scoobynet.com/essex-scoo...good-tool.html

I shall be getting some more very soon if you want to put your names down.

Before I had my data monitor I was quoted £25 by Subaru in Northampton to check the CEL codes after the light came on. When I got there they plugged in the diag monitor, gave me the stored fault codes and what they meant and reset the ECU for me. All this took no more than 10 minutes, when I offered up my card for payment they waived it and didn't charged me.

Now that's more like it Subaru, if only all your main dealers were so reasonable.

I've got a fairly standard OBDII reader - reads the codes, resets the ECU no problem on my 02WRX.
