Default fuel pump problem (i think)

went to start the car this mornin (classic wrx import) and the engine was just turning over, i couldnt hear a noise from the fuel pump, so im thinkin there could be a loose connection or the pump has packed in.

how do i access the fuel pump on the car? is it under the back seat? or in the boot?

also if i need a new pump im going to upgrade to a walbro, where can i get one from near sheffield?

cheers

You're best removing the rear seat so you can get at the pump vertically and not have to replace it at an angle (and risk fouling the seal).

check the connections under the back seat first, they're notorious for causing problems.

The fuel pump will only prime/pressurise the system when the ignition is 1st turned in fully, So you will only here it for a few seconds, If there is already enough fuel pressure there, the pump will not buzz or squark at all.

To be sure you could do with releasing fuel pressure & the turning the key again to listen.
Does the car have an Immobilser ?????

I found it easy to access the fuel pump on a classic just by working with the back of the seat folded down (fuel pump is under a hatch in the boot). As already mentioned the connections to the pump are quite often in need of a jiggle, I used a small watchmakers screwdriver to tighten the connectors in the block to make it a better / tighter fit. Again check that there is a feed to the pump especially if you have an alarm/ immobiliser.
