I think you would be better off chaning the fuel pump - for £100 it is a bit cheaper than a new engine

as dynamix says, better to have an uprated pump, If it is on the original pump then it could be a bit tired. walbros are only about £80 - £90 quid

Would also be wise to change the FPR when uprating to the Walboro as the pump can 'over-run' the oem regulator on the early classics

to be honest the fpr isnt really necessary to change it if you arent going for major mods. I didnt change mine on my car (my93 but made in 92)
