Good communication skills there! You've really set the scene and explained the situation well so that people can comment!

what year?

probably in safe mode or boost solenoid stuck so only running actuator pressure.

Do you have a boost gauge?

boosts to around 0.5 you can hear the turbo (due to decat) but it doesnt seem to pick up. do you think a remap would be an option worth doing

Sounds like your in limp home mode. Do the diagnostic with the plugs under the dash and see if any error codes come up. If not, try an ECU reset.... Bad fuel maybe?

Sorry, you'll have to do a search, I can only find the reset procedure. To do the diagnostic, I think you just connect the black plugs, but check first.

IMO a remap won't help. If you have a problem elsewhere, there's no point in remapping.

Just connect the two black wires under the dash and switch ignition on and count the cel light flashes , probably in limp mode due to faulty sensor !

just dis-connect battery for half hour that will reset ecu take it out run if u go to ur high boost and it dies again u have problem. take it to dealer they will check the memory easier than messing around with they wire.why did subaru not put a plug on these wires so u can connect it to a laptop would be much easier

0.5bar of boost sounds like I can see in the dark

If there is no error codes recorded then I would clean the boost solenoid with brake cleaner.
