Default Battery Voltage Drop

Hi All,

I've had my data monitor for quite a while now and haven't had any alarms for some time (last ones were EGT).

About a week ago while waiting at a petrol station on tickover I noticed an alarm started flashing for low battery voltage. I'd just driven about 10 miles, normal driving. I had the CD player on but no other lights, etc. I cleared the alarm and when I checked the voltage value it read 14V, which is back to normal.

It did it again today, this time while driving along at about 40mph having just driven a couple of miles with the headlights on but no stereo.

The car always starts first time without any problems, even after being stood unused for a week.

The alarm threshold is set to 9v, so it's dropping quite a bit but only for a very short period of time - apart from the obvious "battery's on the way out", is there anything else that could be causing this problem?

I assume you've got battery voltage as one of the display options on one of the pages? Stay on that page and keep a close eye on its behaviour?
I set mine to warn at 10v and have only had it give me a warning after starting when the jolly old tracker was sucking too many amps!

Yes, it is on one of the pages and is usually around 13.9 to 14v so I'll keep an eye on it.

It won't tell me why it's doing it though, any ideas anyone?

Could it be the monitor or the wires to the monitor, giving a false reading, as you don't have any reason to suspect anything else ? Clean the battery connections and body earth connections.

drop test the battery to check it's condition.
and I don't meant take it out and let go of it.
could be the battery on it's way out.
