What make of quick shift is it? If it's the dealers QS (PPP) it will come with all the gubbinigs that goes under the car as well.
If it's just the lever it’s a 10 min job.

Lift the centre console arm rest,
Lift the plastic caps that cover the screws.
Remove screws,
Unscrew gear ****, it will stay with the leather gaiter
Lift the centre of the console out from the arm rest end,
Remove slowly as the wing mirror switch is on there,
Disconnect plug from switch and remove the centre of the console.
You will now see how the gear lever is attached to the gear linkage.
Unscrew the bolt were it connects to the linkage, and remove.
The bottom of the leaver is held in a nylon cup
Pull the lever backwards with some force and it will just pop out.

To get the new one back in, place the gear lever on the cup, place a piece of wood on top of the lever were the gear **** would screw onto.
Give it a sharp tap with a lump hammer and it will pop back in.
Now re-assemble in reverse order.

Dont know if its the same as my my02. when i did mine, i had to go underneath the car and used a C-plier to undo a clip holding the base of the stick. Took me 30min.

Looks like you have an after market quick shift, straight forward swap, know need to go under the car, the only difference between them is the piviot point, were it meets the gear linkage, however you have to be positive with the gear change, as you lose some of the mechanical advantage due to the relocation of the piviot point.

Yes thats what you SHOULD do, i used the hammer trick and then found out i should have removed a clip first,

Works fine though. Although I dd have to grind some metal off of a plate as the new lever rubbed against it, having a lower pivot point

Where is the ball on the end of the lever?
It should have a nylon ball, on the end that fits into the socket

Yes the unthreaded end, i will look in the garage to-night and send you a picture of a standard gear stick, i am not sure if you can remove the nylon ball, but will check to-night.

Hi Dave.
Sorry the PC has been down at home, looks like the nylon ball is held on by a split pin, you will have to remove your ball from your old gear lever, this is done with a small drifting tool, and a hammer.
Then fit the ball to your new gear lever.

Most I have seen have the ball already mounted, this saves all the messing about.
