More engine noise with Motul 300V
Having done a couple of thousand miles of running in (again) with no oil use or any problems whatsoever i decided to change to Motul 300v 15-50. First thousand miles on 15-40 mineral oil then the second thousand miles on 10-40 semi synthetic.
Since the change i can here more of a tappety noise when the engine is warm . STi 5 so shimmed. Also sorted the valve clearance during rebuild.
After around 50 miles i decided to drop the oil and ran it through a paint filter to find it was spotless, no trace of anything, apart from a suicidal fly!
Put the oil back in and since then done a couple of hundred miles keeping an eye on oil pressure, which has been constant.
Has anyone experienced similar when changing to fully synthetic or Motul itself.

Its worry... normal after spending £1000's... to hear noises again... I'm the same... I constantly listening and watching... it ain't normal...
Is there a doctor on here lol...
My STi 4 has a very slight tappet noise... but it ain't worth trying to sort it... all engines make some sort of noise... Gotta change to fully soon... I'm expecting it to get quieter... I'm gonna go with Mobil 1...

Tell me about it!
Parked up the other days at Maccy D's and thought oh **** whats that noise, it wasnt constant with revs, but it was worrying. Turned the car off and it was still there?!
Only a fooking diesel parked two cars away!!
Hope yours goes well, read through your project.
Trouble is when you know what goes into these builds (as well as £££'s) you cant help but get completely freaked out by the smallest of noises. Even when its not on your car!!

lol... 8K rebuild mine was DIY pretty much... yet you can rebuild a cvh for under £500 yourself and it'll sound quiet as a mouse...
Its crazy... I think we all need locking up... were never right in the head...
Project's thread should be re-named... to the nut hosue or something like...
I am sick of listening, worrying, smelling seeing things wrong... I mean i'm glad all is pretty much sorted now... but my god... It hurts... its a big decision when it happens... to rebuild, or to cut losses...?

I think I've spoke to him via e-mail... he sold it to my mate... Mark... Who then blew it up again...
My car ain't even reached 50K miles and its on a 3rd engine...
I knew its history so thats why everything was replaced this time round... small world though...
Tell him its f**king fast now... will be running 25psi through it shortly...

John, I think its only natural to be very paranoid, what was the outcome of your low oil pressure?

Cheers Tony, expected as much in all honesty.
Andy, the outcome of the low oil pressure was:
Worn main bearing (2 of)
Gudgeon pins worn, where they meet the little end of rod (all 4)
Some bore wash.
The reason for all this? Undetermined, although ive had varying possibilities given to me, overfueling which leads to oil contamination which leads too a shagged engine, not using assembly lube, not plastigauging clearances although everything was brand new, some other type of contamination..................................... .................................................. .................................................. ........
So as you can imagine, its a scary ride whilst its still bedding in again.
