autronic fault code ???????

Default autronic fault code ???????

my friends version 4 wagon fitted with an autonics ecu has had a fault code of 34 start flashing up.we have found that it stands for "SYNC" REFERENCE PULSE I/P MISSING.dose any one know what this means????????

Would guess that it is not seeing the Cam sensor input.Does it still run?Or is it only on starting?

it only shows on start up and still runs fine.

Probably missing the input when cranking due to reduced ouput voltage at cranking speeds.However it must eventually "see" the cam teeth to synchronise and then start.Once running most ECU's can lose the cam input and still run OK as they can use the crank sensor to sync off, so wouldn't worry too much.An autronic expert will probably now post and tell me this is all b******s, but that would be my un-educated guess...

best un-educated guess so far...im going to find a mapper tommorow to try to sort it out.
