Boost issues - fuel cut?

Boost issues - fuel cut?
I have a UK WRX with full decat and am having boost problems that are particularly noticable in higher gears (mainly 4th and 5th). The cars seem to surge about 3 times between 4k and 5.5k rpm's.
My data monitor also reports a high boost warning, the current peak value is 1.5bar and I have the alarm threshold set at 1.40bar (with the car mapped to 1.25bar on a standard TD04).
Is the surging likely to be fuel-cut as a result of over-boosting and if so, what are the implications?
Thanks.

Mines hitting fuel cut at the minute but its more like hitting a brick wall than a slight surge. Could be boost solenoid although i'm only guessing.

Been out again today and it's definately a surge that's only really evident in 5th gear, (although perhaps slightly in 4th). Car is regularly hitting 1.40bar and over, alhtough it is a spike, it's not holding this pressure.
Anyone?

well when in 4th or 5th the engines under most load for longest while winding the boost up,so it will be more evident here,i would say that you have a holed pipe between your turbo to boost solenoid or from there to the actuator,or a hole in the solonoid altho ive never heard of the latter, nothing is impossible, the boost solenoid can only increase so far,if none of the above seem apparent, disconect the boost solenoid, then try it,it may bring up the check engine light but ignore that as its only to tell you something is not being found by the ecu,try these and come back if no joy, cheers, neil.

it depends,if it was ok then just started happening then i would have thought the standard 2 port would be fine, also check inside the pipes as they can build up with carbon giving a false reading and stopping it from doing its job as you describe?
