Question wrx whine

a little whine from transmission when slowing down in 1st gear in a 01 wrx anyone know is this normal?

MY95 did it, was power sterring fluid level, twas abit low

Topped everything up, water, coolent, power steering! Now no whine slowing down, but may have been somthing else!

thanx criss but is def gearbox noise like a car of yesteryear reversing but not quite as loud anyone else wanna gimme a reply or have a listen get bac to me tomorrow

Yes, mine did it! I couldve sworn it was the box, but I re-sealed all the power steering and topped it up! No whine!

My mate commented on it when comming into B&Q carpark, his car did it too. I thought it was gearbox but he said top up my power steering, did, no whine! Just give it check to give me peace of mind :-) LoL

Mine did it on a 52wrx. Never was too concerned actually. Kids said it sounded like it laughed when i slowed down...................hee heee heeee !!!

Much quieter after 30,000 mile service

I have an MY02 WRX with approx. 40K on the clock. Had it since below 10K and it has always been on the 'Whiney' side, particularly on the over-run, at lower revs. It's not excessive, but noiticable. Never given me any problems so I presume this is how they are?

My gearbox has certainly not been abused either.
