Overheating is it my gasget
Car is overheating every now and then.
If I stay off boost its fine but if a give it a blast the gauge goes up to full and no hot air from the vents then all of a sunden the gauge drops back to normal.
There are air bubles in the filler bottle or more like steam when I press the expanson tank cap button thing.
Any thoughts I think is my gasget but hope not
Thanks
Mark

Do a radiator pressure test with car switched off then running, if there's a large noticeable difference, good chance that it is the head gasket.

Hi,
Another (probably unlikely) possibility. Previous car was a Seat Leon Turbo and a faulty turbo caused overheating. Driven gently all was OK but as soon as the turbo started to do some work the temperature gauge would rise. At the end the car would go to about 120mph then the temp gauge would rise and the car would slow down until it was doing 65mph with my foot buried in the carpet and the temp gauge at 125degrees C. Popped the bonnet and the turbo and exhaust manifold were glowing bright orange. Ah, the frivolities of company car ownership.
