Turbo Problem
I have a wrx 02 fitted with an afterburner r/b -centre sec/ kn panel/samco hoses intercooler /xpower upipe & manifold. My problem is after the xpower mf/up fitted the samco hose to the intercooler yshape one was damage and it blew off, i have replaced it and the hose clips ,then the car started to make a noise atabout 2 -2.5 thous revs like a police car way in the distance this noise turned into a electric drill sounding noise at 2-3thou .I have a boost gauge fitted noted it was not holding boost properly ie dropping out .I have looked for air leaks,& have had a mechanic look at it ,turbo is not boosting. Iam currently taking the turbo off on inspection from the down pipeside the rotor is moving freely & with no play ,the car is runnig like a car with no turbo.Does anyone have any ideas. Q 2 am i looking in right place .Q3 is there a hybrid td04 made or is the a replacement turbo that i can fit without having to change injectors at this stage ,but wouldbe a good upgrade & would take injectors and so fourth later.

Andy.F does a Hybrid TD04, you would be fine on standard injectors but it would however need a remap.
I would be inclined to suspect you have a boost leak on the intercooler pipework still.. or a vaccum pipe off etc.. dump valve leak / stuck open.

dump vavle looks fine ,had it all apart today turbo, intercooler ,pipes, all off looked ok,the only thing that didnot look good was the arm on the
actuator ,although the actuator worked with a bike pump could this be the problem, having put it back together the problem is still there when i road tested it but not so bad,or does the vacuum pump fail to the actuator ie dont pump properley
