Question Fuel pump fitting on Classic

Got a Walboro fuel pump in anticipation of a few mods.

How much of the rear seat do I have to take out in 97UK Classic ? Had a quick look last night, but failing light and cold meant I stopped at the rear seat.

Does the rear back rest have to come out too as I couldn't see what I was expecting ?

How long should it take to swap over ?

When you say back rest I assume you mean the back panel (thecushioned one that you lean against?)
If so then yes this needs to be removed to gain the best access.
Swapping over itself doesnt take long, maybe half hour, its an easy job just be careful you dont split any fuel pipes. Remember to depressurise the system first and obviously no smoking nearby, make sure there is plenty of ventillation as well (unless you like the effects)
Oh finally, best to do it on a low fuel tank.

i saw one of these on ebay over the weekend is it a worthwhile up grade without any mods or a waste of money??

Came to the conclusion of doing it on a low fuel level last night, might give the weather chance to warm up a bit over a few days?

Its well known that the standard fuel system can result in 1 cylinder running weak as fuel pressure drops over the fuel rail.

For modified cars below 300bhp I was told you'll probably get away with just changing the fuel pump. For 300+ you should change the fuel pressure regulator as well, or change fuel rail to parallel.

Doubt you would see and power / torque advantages of simply fitting an uprated pump on a standard car, but you would reduce / cancel the potential problems of running weak.

I changed my exhaust and found near side of engine exhaust ports very sooty and off side VERY lean in comparason. So I got the new pump to try and solve this. Will proabably get 2 set of injectors and have them cleaned and checked over to help.

I understand the parallel fuel rail mod is not available off the shelf and as I don't have a proper working garage I couldn't do it myself.

TSL do a parallel fuel mod off the shelf including a regulator for about £149. Gonna be looking at this myself soon.

Thats bloody good knowledge, thanks Jay. SX / Aeromotive fuel pressure regulators are more than that ! Will be looking into it.

it helps to give better fuel distribution so each injector in theory has the same amount of fuel to inject at any time. On a standard car its probably not worth the expense, however on a tuned car then there are advantages

Thumbs up FITTED SX REGULATOR AND 255 WALBRO

Hi m8

I fitted the above and only needed a little soldering of one of the connectors.

The car seems smoother and the powers back.

Look at Group Buys about page 2, I think, ASPERFORMANCE.COM - Alyn if I remember right. He delivered the stuff and gave good advice, I managed to fit it all.

Fitting instructions are on the net.

Thanks Scoobydawg, I was refering to the parallel fuel mod from TSL not just the fuel reg.
