Default DIY reconditioning of TDO5... is it possible?

Anyone know about this? I've seem some reconditioning kits for sale and was wondering how easy it was to do this myself, as I have access to a workshop so tools etc shouldn't be a problem.

Many thnaks for a reply :-)

I've heard it's not the hardest job in the world, but i've never done one.
My mate did his t3 on his fiesta turbo not long since and reckoned it was a piece of p1ss

It depends on what your on about reconning and what the kit provides.

If your talking about a full strip down it's not a simple job.

Once stripped and cleaned/conditioned it should be checked for rotor balance which requires specialised equipment, get it wrong and you'll damage the impeller or shaft and wheel which would mean a new core assembly.

Be careful !

Cheers for the replys lads! Not sure what the kit includes. I've heard of balencing the shaft, but why would you need to do this if you are not altering the impellers/shaft etc?

I'm really curious now I want to do one!

Should be ok if you are mechanically adept. Just make sure you only clean it, dont take a scraper to any blades or use anything abrasive.

As an aside, would be nervous about doing a roller bearing turbo without the facility to press bearings properly and to test the ballance.
