DIY reconditioning of TDO5... is it possible?
Anyone know about this? I've seem some reconditioning kits for sale and was wondering how easy it was to do this myself, as I have access to a workshop so tools etc shouldn't be a problem.
Many thnaks for a reply :-) |
I've heard it's not the hardest job in the world, but i've never done one.
My mate did his t3 on his fiesta turbo not long since and reckoned it was a piece of p1ss |
Do you know whats in the kit??
|
It depends on what your on about reconning and what the kit provides.
If your talking about a full strip down it's not a simple job. Once stripped and cleaned/conditioned it should be checked for rotor balance which requires specialised equipment, get it wrong and you'll damage the impeller or shaft and wheel which would mean a new core assembly. Be careful ! Rob |
AndyF service's the Turbo's....dn't think he charges too much, pm him for a price..

Should be ok if you are mechanically adept. Just make sure you only clean it, dont take a scraper to any blades or use anything abrasive.
As an aside, would be nervous about doing a roller bearing turbo without the facility to press bearings properly and to test the ballance. |
