Default TD04 mods - looking for good company

Looking to get my TD04HL15T converted to 18T spec.

1) 18T compressor
2) Clipped turbine blades
3) Ported (potentially).

Anyone know a good (cheap) place to get this done? / had similar done- I'm in Surrey.

PS - This is not actually for a scooby so can bin this thread -no worries - But scoobynet is a top place for general turbo info. (and a turbos a turbo) so thought I'd try it.

Great - Nice chap - Have given him a call - sounds promising and he seems open to getting bits and pieces too.

Cheers!

I'm being asked how much I want the turbine clipped. Any idea what is normal? 10 degrees seems to be a starting point but to be honest I'm not sure what 'works'
What have others had done? cheers!

I use around 7 degrees, but that's with only a different compressor wheel fitted to a stock td04 cover. Using a completely different cover would probably require more (no idea whether 10 would be enough or too much though!), try emailing Andy.F for his advise too. Just be sure to post your results afterwards

Well I said I'd post the results: Ended up using Universal Turbos who turned round the old TD04HL15T in 2-3days inc. postage time! Price seemed good too - new milling, new compressot, clip, bearings seals, balance, studs, total clean up etc etc- looked like a brand new unit. £430 all told - seems about right.

Anyway - Converted to an 18T compressor and went for a mild 7 degree clip on the turbine to increase flow a little at the top end without inducing too much lag.

Net: Got it re-mapped by Maptun and it's pulling like a train. Comes in at about 2500rpm (about 3-400 after the 15T) and holds 1.5bar for a good long time. The lag is so much less than I was expecting overall which is nice as the gearing is pretty long so it's easy to get caught out.
Currently running 340bhp at 5.5-6k rpm and 380ftlbs at about 3k which is plenty for the old FWD barge!

PS - Sorry for hijack, it's a Saab 9k Aero but this it s TOP place for turbo info. Great site!

I understand why the HL turbine get clipped - to allow more flow at higher revs, but there is an option od the H turbine, which is same diameter at the HL but smaller blade area. ie like a clipped HL.

Haven't worked out exact blade area etc... but anyone got any info on pros and cons for each option ?

What displacement is the Saab engine ?

Thats very interesting on the H turbine - never knew that!

If I had known I might have popped one in instead of clipping the old which is probably less scientific but cheap.

The Saab engine is a 2.3
