oil ctach pan...
...fed up with having to keeping cleaning my boost solenoid so i'm thinking of putting in a catch pan. can any one recommend a brand or dealer...not interested in bling bling, just functionality.

Its a catch can you are talking about I think. Used to have a cusco one. Did the job but cost £100. If you are really after cheap and cheerful then you can use anything. Coke bottle?! Water bottle off a mountain bike?

madscientist I'm happy as long as it stops the oil getting into the pipes and boost solenoid...got any pics?

Unless you are an environmentalist, venting to the road isn't a bad plan! I never got more than a dribble of oil in my can.

you give out more nasties in your decatted exhaust than you ever will from a vta breather.
£30 and 2 day delivery is good, mine cost £6.50 and was fitted in 7 minutes

Just beware, I've just realised I've been sent a 9mm version FFS....Dohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
If you go for a can it needs to have 15mm hose connections..!
Just search for 'oil catch tank' on Ebay (taking above into consideration..!)

ive allways been interested in doing the peanuts method 
can i ask... is there any down sides to having the breathers not recirculate back into the engine? are the vapours not needed?

It's an emissions thing. Personally as I run a sports catted downpipe it's silly for me to vent the crankcase breather out. Mine is going to be plumbed back to the inlet pipe after the catch tank as soon as I get round to it.

downsides? I suppose you cant see how much oil you are throwing on the road, in a catch can you have the evidence.
if you need a map then PM me and I'll put together a schematic and a few destructions for you

the last time i was at Harveys garage i saw a packing casefull of oil catch cans that look like the cusco ones that he was selling for 45 quid all in!!!
may be worth contacting him.

Remeber to clean your intercooler when fitting one of these too - if your solenoid is getting contaminated, so is the stock TMIC. I used to flush mine out with petrol on a monthly basis before fitting a catch-can. I also only connected up the crank breather, and it fixed my problem (heads still recirc normally).
