TD05-16G v`s IHI VF35
Ok, still undecided on a turbo for my car.
This is the last thing i need to decide on, and i`m just not sure.
My spec is
MY00 Wagon.
H&S Open neck dp, 2.5 centre with Ninja bb.
Standard headers and up-pipe (both to be ported and wrapped)
Sti panel filter (no cold air mods as yet)
Sti8 tmic (no scoop or undertray mods yet)
Walbro 255 with OE Reg.
Standard 440`s.
And once all done, EcuTek map from Andy.F
I used a VF30 in my last Impreza, and i liked the way it felt, a tad more lag than the standard TD04, but it soon spooled up well.
I just dont know which to go for, as i have the choice of a 16G and a 35.
I really need some pointers.
Thanks.

IMO: ultimate power will be greater with TD05, response is quicker with VF35. I'd go VF35 for road only, and TD05 if track work is expected.
TD05 is also a tough little b*stard!

I have a VF34 which is almost the same as the VF35 except it has roller bearings, i've just had Harvey's ported & wrapped headers fitted and it's made the turbo spool up about 500rpm sooner (now it's like the stadard TD04) and it pulls all the way to the redline (unlike the TD04).

can't see anywhere your goal ?
if its around 300 then i'd go for andyF's td04 hybrid everytime
looking at your current mods i'm thinking 300 is what your after

This is interesting. I've got a TD05 16G sat here at home, which will be fitted and mapped (fingers crossed) in a couple of weeks.
Basically, same spec as post #1.
I'd like to see 300 bhp on the rollers, but more interested in the way it goes on the road.
What power can I expect to see and what can I expect on the road?
Apologies for hijacking the thread aswell.
Cheers
