Default Newage I/C on a classic

I've just bought a new age wrx intercooler for my classic.
I'm just wondering what the tube is for that's bolted onto the front of it, and do I need it?
Pic below to show you what I mean

This is what it should look like finished....... i painted mine black so that it lokked more standard...

Do the new age wrx ics bolt straight onto classics? MY00 in particular.

Jake you need to modify fixing brackets and dump valve piping
