Question which pannel filter????????

hi all hope you had a merry xmas and looking forward to the new year.

I have just been looking on jap parts, i want to get an oil free pannel filter for a MY99 uk turbo but i'm torn between the STI and the ZERO sports, ther's not much in the cost, just wondered if any one has used or knows which will be best.

cheers all

sean

They are

My JDM STi (MY03) gained 12bhp and 15lbs of torque after fitting one, 2 runs before, change filter on rolling road, 2 runs after, and the above result is the outcome

I fitted a Green Cotton Filter...but the guy that remapped my car said a standard one would do, you just need to change it more often.....

It depends on what model you are fitting it to (i think ).

Was told some aftermarket filters muck up the MAF sensor..

Only the ones that use oil, the dry ones dont
As for the STi panel fitler, its a service item, 15-20k changes, its high quality which is its advantage, cost wise, more than reasonable
Easy to fit, its just the cover is a pain to close (remember the STi one is the only official Subaru Japan product designed for the JDM STi's )

You will see gains, mainly towards the top end, but classics have a tendancy to loose bhp and gain torque with these panel filters, though its torque your after really
(torque = drivability)

I use a Green Panel filter. I already had free flowing exhaust sections fitted and when I dropped this in I did notice improved performance on my new age. The difference is very slight ofcourse, but the car is breathing better over 5-5.5k rpm with it.

Next question..

Where do you get STI panel filters?

I presume they'll fit a classic sti?

Depends where you are in the country, Prosport in stockport do them, also scoobymania, and yes, they fit a classic STi

blimey £50 for a standard panel!

hmm, I was debating whether to spend out less on an Apexi panel (aparantly one of the best filters, and not oiled?)
