When driving along, I can smell oil in the car. Not sure where its coming from. When the car comes to rest, at idle, after a couple of minutes it is smoking a lot from the exhaust. This is the same if car is driven gently or a little enthausiastically. If i then switch off and restart, no smoke. It will only do it after driving.

 

most likely your rocker cover gaskets are leaking very common nothing to worry about unless really bad

 

But would that make it smoke out of the tail pipe?

 

rocler cover gaskets are a common problem and the oil gets onto the exhaust where it burns off - hence the smell and smoke when idling...
However rockercover gaskets have NOTHING to do with smoke from the tailpipes...! What colour smoke are you talking about Blue/Black/White...?

I think it was white, but not too sure as it was dark. It did smell oily.

dont know for sure but mine was smoking white and it was overfuelling a lot. got another post on here power fc problems. no smoke with standard ecu.
