Z4-6K MY95 WRX ECU
EVERYONE HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR .COULD ANY BODY PLEASE TELL ME RESISTANCE VALUE OF J1 IN OLD 95 WRX ECU, ITS A Z4 BUT I BELIEVE V7 7D 2C Z4 6K 7K ARE ALL ALMOST THE SAME .ITS NOT A SCOOBYECU .BUT ITS GOT A MINES UPGRADE CHIP FROM JAPAN IN IT.SOMEONE OVER THERE REMOVED RESISTOR. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS STILL ANY BODY DOING A SCOOBYECU MOD TO RUN ON UK FUEL .IF NOT I AM HOPING TO PUT ECU BACK TO STANDARD AND TRY IT .BUT IF I GET ANY DET ON MY KNOCK LINK I WILL HAVE TO BUY AN APEXI ECU.I AM NOT REALLY BOTHERED ABOUT IMPROVING THE BHP, SO DO NOT REALY WANT TO GO DOWN THAT ROAD. IT WILL DET SOMETIMES EVEN ON OPTIMAX PLUS MILLERS OCTANE BOOSTER.HAVING JUST REBUILT A LEGACY RSK ENGINE .I WANT TO PLAY IT SAFE.SUBARU PARTS AND GASKETS ARE REALLY PRICEY. THANKS DAVE T.

Hi,
The resistance of the j1 resistor is actaully very close to zero. You can just put a peice of plain wire in there if need be and it should work OK.
The z4 ecu should run perfectly fine on UK optimax fuel alone. Your knocklink should show you anyways. I nver see more than 2 greens with my z4
Scobyecus are available - but the original ones made by the best mappers are hard to find - like Scott taylors - he has been selling some left overs on ebay recently though and they went for £200 - £300 quid.
Scoobyclinic do a custom map via scoobyecu board for about £300. This seems a v good option to me as the map is custom.
Or you could go for a cheaper copy of (not as safe/reliable as scotts) on ebay but i would not recomend these. I defo wouldnt bother with VOS chip and it throws up the cel. Some guy is selling um for £220! They cost £80 direct from Auz! There not half as good as the real thing.
IMO just stick with the Z4. I have. Got 260 bhp with full decat.

ya wont thinking of selling ya z4 was ya. i had the same problem with my ecu, some one had put a chip in and cut the j1 part. i went to maplins electronics and brought a pack of junpers.there the same resistance..
soldered two of them too where the j1 was, and now it makes a good reset switch. turn off, it resets the ecu, turn it on work normal. i have a chiped d7, but the revs are good till over 7k. has your z4 been damaged at all with the chip?
