Default Intercooler swap - bugeye to classic

Will a bugeye intercooler go straight onto a classic? If so, all years? if not, how hard to convert it to fit?
Mines for sale and im after info before I sell it really.

regards

no you need brackets to make it fit and depending what year you may need to move the clutch fluid resevoir.

It is definatley wider and deeper and the fins are much better than on the classic intercoolers. You need the bugeye undertray for the scoop to really benefit from it as its the full width of the intercooler unlike the original classic undertray (which is also fairly straight forward to fit).
I cant really coment on any difference noticed in the performance as i done a load of mods and a remap at the same time

Depends on what classic your talking about. I installed one on a friends MY95 and it required a good bit of work.

It is a lot more work than you'd think. Most find it easier to go FMIC.

Mine was a dodle, but then i have a my00, and the hoses just fitted, the barckets were only a little wrong too..... it also depends if you're talking about newage WRX intercooler, or an STI one.... wrx ones are a lot simpler to fit then STI ones.... due to them being smaller, but then yo don't get the full benefit of the size of the STI one......

Ron, I went for the STi unit as the I calculated the WRX one wasn't worth the effort of changing on my MY00 classic. Agree that there is probably less effort involved on a WRX TMIC.

They fit on a phase 2 no problem, and make a very noticeable difference with a hybrid td04 working hard at high revs. I could add in up to 3 degrees of advance after fitting one to a previously mapped car. I was surprised at the difference!

ok, thanks for the replies and input. Its a bugeye WRX non-STi item, so if I advertise it as a good and easy upgrade for classic owners of phase 2/facelift imprezas, that`d be about right then?

Any ideas on price to sell at?
