Short and simple answer is yes.

If it snaps the cost will be phenominal.

have the same situation on my car as ive no records that it has been previously changed, mine has 33k on the clock and i believe the change point is 45k,so yours is doing really well to have covered so many miles past the change point without breaking....i wouldnt let it do many more though.......

Yeah the change point is at 45k, so prepare for the big bill as i believe the parts alone are around £250?, might be wrong though

You're bang on the mark the full kit does cost about £250 and it includes belt, tensioner and so on.......but the main dealer quoted me £200 for the job including VAT....when I enquired about what i was getting for the money they answered "Belt and Labour" so I enquired about tensioner and they said that they never replace the tensioner except if it is weeping oil - there is no need they say!(as long as it is ok upon inspection (not leaking)

I have asked other mechanics that I know have worked on scoobys and they say the same.

Can anybody shed some light on the need for a full kit? Is there a need for tensioner and so on or is it a nice money spinner?

The belt cost by the way is £58.00

Depends on the year of your car.
MY00's are 60k or 4 years, MY99 and back are 45k or 3 years.
Personally id get it changed yesterday, engines aint cheap
