I would like to know too.
I think you need to do the gearbox one too as well as the engine.
The only place I've found is www.mrtrally.com.au but I think these are simply Sti parts (?)

Almost by accident, terrible site, Whiteline is worse though.
I think i did a name search for Mountings (I think)
I've thought of a way to stiffen the Sti mountings so will try it as a test over Xmas.
Cost about £20.

Neil,
I've fitted GpN STi gearbox mounts but not tried any engine mounts.
Sourced them from the US for £75 all in.
The harder rubber can be replicated by using std mounts and pouring urethane potting compound into the gaps to stiffen them up.
The g/box mounts have made the gear chnage more solid but add a bit more noise into the cabin.
The best benefit has been to remove almost all the transmission tramping in slow traffic - but may be putting more strain on the g/box.

The uprated Sti mounts are available from several sources in the UK. Try giving Mark at Lateral a ring on 0208 420 5444.

I fitted the uprated engine and gearbox mountings, ( certainly STi types, I *Think* they were grp N parts ) great improvement in reducing movement .. these have harder ( and more ) rubber, and the engine mounts have different design metal mounting plates to better deal with loadings - see Ravensblade website for more techy description with photos.

Very worthwhile mod.

Mine came via an aftermarket scooby supplier, but sourced from Roger Clark motorsprots. Costs - IIRC around £40 for gearbox mount, around £30 each engine mount. No doubt out with costs !

I was going the urethane route.
Can we have the USA site address please?

I have an Sti v3 now, so want to be sure the next ones are truely uprated and not just Sti units.
I suffer fron the engine/trans moving everywhere during hard accelleration/decelleration just before changing gear and sometimes I find 5th instead of 3rd from 2nd.

Graham.

Graham,
Have no fear that the Sti GpN/A units are not uprated. I've replaced the trans and engine mounts on my Sti 02 and the new ones are significantly stiffer than the originals. I would imagine the next stage would be solid aka the WRC engine mounts.

Ditto.

I have the GpN engine and gearbox mount in my MY02 STI

Engine no longer makes the car rock from side to side when idling...

Gearbox has a very slight whine when pulling away, but gearchanges are more solid.

Mounts came from Roger Clark Motorsport.

Sorry Graham, seem to have confused you. Engine and gearbox mounts came from Xtreme Scoobies or RCM, forget which. Neilo - from memory, engine mounts £70 the pair, £35 for gearbox, probably plus VAT.
{Just realised you meant Butty, where he got his from!}

The info on the uprated engine and gearbox mounts came from the USA site Ravensblade-impreza.com,
Changed it's name or something .. but try here and look at the mods section, near the bottom of the list of features.

http://www.northursalia.com/

Ohh yeah, look under drivetrain !

what would happen if the mounts were just replaced with solid bits of metal? is the damping effect needed that much?

I have also been interested in these for sprinting and came across a site in the USA called Rallispec , they have all the Group N mounts and the gearbox and cross member bits. Haven't asked yet if they would send me a set declared to customs as a childs toy !!!! They are based North of New York so if you know anyone going for Chrismas shopping give them the list.

Lateral have them in stock and are uprated well over Sti spec.
Well priced too and inc vat/delivery.
Think I will go in that direction.

Now, where's the wife.....

Found the details at last.
I got an STi gpN pitch rod and gearbox mount for £57 plus shipping from Hardcore Tuning back in March.
I've had a look at thier website and I don't think they are going any more though.

UK prices look like they've come down since then though.

So long as they are oil-dry i think they go on and on and on...
The way Mark at Lateral described them they are solid for the box and prodrive modified for the engine(!)
He has no pics.
LDA:
You only mount solid in a serious race car and then only if the chassis is super stiff, otherwise you start to use the engine as part of the chassis stiffness, and it will twist and it will fail.
That's if the vibration doesn't get to it first on the road.

I have some pics Graham, I'll dig em out..

The gearbox mount was a Group N mount further modified by prodrive to stifffen it further.
The engine mounts are Simply group N
Both sourced from Lateral Performance.
If you would like a "feel" of how they transmit noise and or engine gearbox movement you're quite welcome to nosey at mine when you're up PS next...

Andy:
Yes, that is the pic i can remember too.
As to popping up to PowerStation, I'm waiting for the invite to have the next suspension fitted. I've greased all the bushes again now so I'm ready!
Can you pass on to Rich/Curtis?

I have emailed but no answer...too busy selling AST's!

Thanks, Graham.

I saw the e-mail... I'll give Rich a nudge.
(Would be good to get you going on the next stage as there is another certain blue classic that'll be gaining your second hand set )
(hopefully)
better go as I'm late already !

what happens if you fill the gaps with offcuts of rubber and RTV? that'd stiffen some OE ones up considerably.

Agree with the mod (rtv etc) that is what I was going to do, but such mods the bond can fail and the bits work themselves out of position leading to troubles later. Cant put-up with that situation!
Graham.

Thanks Andy; ps you wont be dissapointed!
Will you leave the 60/50 springs in? (be great on a real track.)

Buying a set from Lateral today now I've had approval from the boss.
You will need a new valve pack Andy, the 60 rate springs are on 11/12 of the settings.

When I get them I'll do a bit on my 'engine Project thread'
Hope they will fix my gearchange ****-ups I've lost time to this year (in particular).
