MY03 WRX - OBD Warning Light !
Driving back from Oxford yesterday an orange engine light lit on the dash, I took it steady on the way home to Manchester where the manual told me that its due to the CAT's OBD sensor ! I.E. an emissions fault!
Ive decatted the car (up to the turbo) last year and had a "check engine light fix" fitted which was needed for the cat in the Downpipe and has been working well with no faults before. Ive also noticed that the pre turbo up-pipe also has one of these sensors on it which I havent replaced as it still has the OEM up-pipe. Does anyone know if these sensors work together and can go faulty if one is removed or could the fact that the electronic check engine light fix has gone up the duff ??Any info would be helpful to aid my diagnosis!!

need a fault code check doing b4 you go mad wondering, the sensor in the pre turbo link pipe can be cheated by fitting a 0.6w 2.2kohm resistor in its place, i have removed all three cats on mine, cel fix in rear o2 sensor and the said resistor in the link pipe egt sensor, been done for a year now no probs what so ever.

Thanks for the info gents, Brunny how do I go about a fault code check ?, sounds like an expensive Subaru Dealer £50 per hour excersise ?? If so Ill just replace the up pipe sensor with the electronic fix / resistor and have done with it!! Do you know whats involved / needed to be removed to get to the the up-pipe sensor do you know?

i had my 03 wrx de catted from the turbo back the other day with a tsl pulse extraction system an typhoon back box,and exactly the same happened to me!it was ok for a day,no light at all then it just came on as i was driving home from work.do you have a detailed description on how to put the resistor on,to turn the light out??i heard that if you disconnect the battery for a while it will reset the ecu an turn off the check light?is this true?

my m8 has got a MY03 wrx and his light came on and he disconnected the battery for just over an hour and his check engine light went out but the problem will be in the brain of the ecu until you get it reset properly by the garage.
this was a month ago now and he has no probs at all with his car at all.
