hey guys,
im new to the scooby scene, and keep hearing about a MAF!!!
could some1 pleae explain wot it is and where i can find it.

You do need to find it cus you will be replacing it a lot.
Mines knackered, I think

Hi There

Try a search on SN for more info.

If it is knackered then it could lead to serious problems.

MY99 cars are often prone to MAF problems due to the type of MAF.

The one on my MY00 Classic has lasted 5 years without any problem! I only changed it yesterday as a precaution. IMO there are a lot of people on here who think their experiences (" I have to change my maf sensor every 3 weeks") must apply to everyone....they don't!!

I've just had mine replaced - but then I do have an HKS induction kit so mine will be more prone to failure. Has nobody come up with a fix for this yet? Maybe even a maintenance guide or MAF failure avoidance advice - would make a helpful sticky.

I think with induction kits, its to do with the oil that the filters are impregnated with.Gunks up the sensor. Some are better than others

I've heard a few different reasons why induction kits may cause MAF failure. The Oil being one, not cleaning the air enough, vibration because of lack of support.
I've got a Blitz induction kit (Stainless steel so no oil) on mine and my MAF went about 4000 miles after fitting it. Have done another 4000 since and seems ok.
