Default does the installation of an external boost controller require modification of fuel ma

Hi to everybody,

I live in Thailand, I'm the owner of a standard MY 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX. The best fuel we have here is RON 95. Because of the poor fuel quality and hot weather my car's engine knocks at high revs.

I intend to get rid of the knock by having an external boost controller installed, have the engine run at a max. 0.9 bar. I am ready to give up some power in order to get better protection for my engine.

I'd like to know if I have to modify the fuel, ignition maps as well.

I am told that by installing the external boost controller and by replacing the factory ECU solenoid valve the ECU looses control over the boost function.

This in exchange might lead to the engine running lean at higher RPM as standard ECU controlled boost is lower than 0.9 bar at high RPM.

Can someone help with this matter, I'm having a big dilema here...

Many thanks in advance...
