What Turbo on MY05 WRX - good for how much ?
Quick question please - I tried the search but couldn't see anything obvious although I'm sure this has been asked many times...
Can someone confirm to me what turbo is fitted to the MY05 WRX as standard and how much it can be safely mapped to alongside appropriate changes to fuelling/induction/exhaust etc. Will it do 300bhp or is a new turbo needed ?
Many Thanks

Cheers

What turbo's that mate ? Sorry being dim...
So as I've got PPP if I were to go for in addition to that -
Sti top mount IC
New fuel pump and injectors
TD05
Sports Cat for the downpipe
I would be ok for 300 - 320 with a remap ? anymore than that and I was reading poss probs with the clutch ?
Cheers

my turbos an APS SR30....supposedly similar to a 16g just an alternative.
you should be fine for 300-320 with that set up. The clutch will die anyway ultimately, so just drive it, enjoy it, and when it goes, uprate it lifes so simple isnt it....

Cheers - yeah have been having a read up - this sounds very interesting
Anyone got one ? Sounds ideal for what I would want, get me 320/320 and retaing the fast response
Stoopid question alert but could I fit one of these without a remap ? then add the rest of the bits later and get it mapped then ?
AFP4H – is based on a TD04 this is available new or fully re-manufactured on an exchange basis. It is fitted with a new high efficiency, high flow rate compressor wheel and compressor housing which is capable of maintaining the fast spool up rate typically associated with the TD04 but with the ability to run higher boost efficiently over a wider rpm band. This turbo has been tested to levels in excess of 320lbft and 320bhp. With full boost still coming in as low as 2500rpm on a 2.0

i dont think doing that is ever advisable in the long term....id feel safer in having it fitted and mapped soon after.....as even though its based on the same turbo it will have differing characteristics.

Best bet it to buy the turbo, and get it fitted at remap time...same with the decat pipes...well that's what I'm doing as decatting a newage doesn't seem to do a lot without a remap (well apart from boost spiking )
